Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) Program
Starting from January 4, 2023, the Canada Greener Homes Grant is now known as Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) and is co-delivered by Natural Resources Canada and Enbridge Gas in Ontario. With this new program, you can enjoy updated and often significantly increased rebates for many home efficiency upgrades, including up to $10,000 for home insulation upgrades if you’re an Enbridge customer. Even if you’re not an Enbridge customer, you may still be eligible for up to $5,000 in rebates.
Please note that if you’re an Ontario homeowner who has already applied for the Canada Greener Homes Grant before January 4, 2023, you must continue to use the CGHG portal to manage your grant application.
What You Need To Know
The HER+ program introduces a simplified rebate system, offering two distinct packages:
- Package A: Enbridge customers can enjoy rebates of up to $10,000, funded by Enbridge Gas and the Government of Canada’s Greener Homes Grant.
- Package B: Homeowners who are not Enbridge customers can receive rebates of up to $5,000, funded solely by the Government of Canada’s Greener Homes Grant.
Notably, the HER+ program stands out from previous Ontario programs as only one retrofit upgrade is required to qualify for rebates, whereas some past programs required multiple upgrades.
Moreover, the available rebate amounts have been updated for the launch of the HER+ program and differ from the previously-available amounts. Additionally, the new eligibility criteria permit more Ontarians to qualify for rebates, as outlined below.
